Also known as tomato chutney.
This chutney can be used for any kind of dosa, pesarattu, and vada. To give it a little flavor, I have added cilantro as well.
Ingredients:
4 - 5 tomatoes
1/2 bunch of cilantro
2 small green chilis
2 dried red chilis
1 tsp channa daal (bengal gram)
1 tsp urad daal (black gram)
5-6 methi (fenugreek) seeds
1/2 jeera (cumin seeds)
1/2 tamarind paste
a pinch of hing (asafatida)
1/4 tsp turmeric
salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
Method:
In 1 tsp of oil, cook chopped tomatoes, cilantro, and minced green chilis.
Set it aside to cool down.
Temper the rest of the ingredients in remaining oil.
Blend all ingredients to smooth chutney consistency.
Serve with dish of choice.
