Also known as bread fritters
Indian households often wonder what to serve with afternoon tea, but we have a variety of pakoras (fritters) and farsans (fried snacks) to go along with that! Bread is used in many of these afternoon snacks and one popular snack is bread pakora. Make it simple or stuffed like the one I am presenting it to you!
Serves 4-6
Ingredients for pakora batter:
1 and 1/2 cup gram flour (besan)
1 tbsp rice flour
1 tsp crushed carom seeds (ajwain)
1 tsp red chili powder
salt to taste
a little more than 1/4 tsp of soda-bi-carb
enough water to make a batter
Ingredients for stuffing:
2-3 boiled and mashed potatoes
1 tsp grated ginger
2 minced green chili
1 tbsp minced cilantro
2 tsp oil
salt to taste
Method for batter:
Mix all ingredients to pouring consistency batter.
Method for stuffing:
Mix all ingredients to form stuffing (like curry).
Bread pakora:
Spread cilantro chutney on a slice of bread. Spread ketchup or schezwan chutney on another slice of bread.
Put bread together and stuffing as shown in the pictures. Cut into triangles, dip in batter and deep fry into pakora.
Serve hot with tea.
