Spicy Idli Bites

A snack you can make with left over Idlis and spicy lentil powder!

This is an easy snack to eat either in the morning or afternoon. Children are a big fan of this dish because of its crunchiness and flavor.

 

Serves 4-5 people.


Ingredients:

  • 12 prepared leftover idlis

  • 3-4 tbsps oil

For idli karam podi

  • 1/2 cup channa daal (bengal gram)

  • 1/4 cup urad daal (black gram)

  • 10-15 dried red chilis

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

  • a pinch of hing (asafatida)

  • a handful of dried curry leaves (optional)

  • salt to taste


Method:

  1. Cut idlis into quarters.

  2. Dry roast all podi ingredients in hot pan until daals become golden brown. Blend into a fine powder.

  3. Heat oil in a pan and fry idli pieces until light brown on all sides. While heat is still on, add powder and coat all pieces evenly, adding oil if necessary.

  4. Serve hot and enjoy!
