Street-style snack
This is a simple snack that is layered with chutneys and spice powders. In this recipe, I will. be showing you how to make the papdis themselves! However, you can use store-bought papdis if that is easier for you.
Makes 28 papdis.
Ingredients for papdis
1/2 cup maida (all-purpose flour)
1/2 cup fine semolina
2 tsp ghee
salt to taste
oil for deep frying
Method for papdis
Mix all ingredients except for oil, and knead into a soft dough.
Roll dough out and using a round cookie cutter or a small cup, cut out circles.
Poke holes into each circle using a fork.
Deep fry on medium heat to golden brown.
Ingredients for chaat
desired number of papdis
1/2 cup coriander chutney
1/2 cup tamarind chutney
1 cup yogurt (mix with small amount of salt, sugar, and water)
1 cup finely chopped onions
1 cup finely diced boiled potato
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
1 tsp chaat masala
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 cup thin sev
Method for chaat
Place papdis on a serving plate.
Top papdis with potato and onions
Layer drizzles of yogurt, coriander chutney, and tamarind chutney.
Sprinkle masalas and coriander leaves on top.
Add additional onions if desired.
Top with sev as the final layer, and enjoy!
