This chutney can be served with idli, dosa, and vada.
Serves 4-5 people
Ingredients:
1 large onion
4-5 mini sweet peppers
1 tsp channa daal
1 tsp urad daal
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
pinch of asafatida,
1-2 dried red chili (optional)
1/2 tsp jaggery powder
2 tsps oil
1/2 tsp tamarind paste
salt to taste
Method:
Peel skin of the onion and cut into big pieces. Separate the layers.
Remove the stalk of the peppers and also the seeds.
Roast the vegetables making sure they don't burn. I have used an air fryer at 400° F for 10 minutes. Check after 5 minutes.
Heat oil in pan and temper the daals, cumin and mustard seeds and red chili, if using.
Blend all prepared ingredients with tamarind paste, jaggery powder, and salt to taste.
Serve with dish of choice.
