Irish Soda Bread

A simple bread made with baking soda

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all purpose flour

  • 3/4 tsp of salt

  • 3/4 tsp baking soda

  • 14 ounces of whole buttermilk

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

  2. Sift flour, salt and soda together in a large bowl. Mix well and make a well in the center.

  3. Pour buttermilk all at once in the well and mix with either hand or spatula.

  4. Bring the dough together trying not to knead too much. Flour the baking pan.

  5. Pat the dough to make it 1 1/2 inch thick on all sides. Transfer the dough to pan, and make a cross on the dough and bake for 35 mins.

  6. Cool, slice the bread and serve with butter.
