Beetroot Roti

A way to sneak in beetroot in a wholesome multigrain roti.

We all know that children are not a fan of beetroot, I know my children are not. This is because of the off-putting taste of beetroot that is there in most cooked dishes. However, this roti, when paired with a curry of your choice, will not have such a strong flavor. The amount of beetroot can be added according to your taste.

 

This recipe makes 8-10 rotis.


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat atta (flour)

  • 1/4 cup besan (chickpea flour)

  • 1/4 cup jowar (sorghum flour)

  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup raw grated beetroot

  • 1 green chili

  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste

  • 1/2 tsp coriander-cumin powder

  • 1 tsp hot oil

  • salt to taste


Method:

  1. Mix all ingredients.

  2. Knead thoroughly, adding water to form a dough, if necessary.

  3. Leave dough covered for 10 minutes.

  4. Make rotis!

  5. Enjoy with curry of choice.
